How to get to our shop from Pop Stansell Park, downtown Palm Harbor

  1. From Pop Stansell Park, head east on Florida Avenue through downtown.
  2. At the roundabout with Palm Harbor Boulevard (Alt US 19), continue straight on Florida Avenue.
  3. Turn left onto 12th Street, then right onto Nebraska Avenue after one block.
  4. Follow Nebraska Avenue east for about 1.6 miles, past the Palm Harbor Library, to US Highway 19.
  5. Turn right onto US 19 and drive south about 1 mile. Our shop at 32152 US Hwy 19 N is on your right.

Our shop is about 3 miles (6 to 10 minutes, depending on traffic) from Pop Stansell Park and the Florida Avenue shops, so downtown is one of the shortest runs we make.

From Sutherland to Palm Harbor

Before it was Palm Harbor, this was Bay St. Joseph, where J.C. Craver opened the first post office in 1878. In 1888 a land company platted the town as Sutherland and named its boulevards after U.S. states.

The Orange Belt Railway reached Sutherland in 1890. Today the Pinellas Trail follows that old rail line and crosses Florida Avenue at Alt US 19.

The San Marino Hotel stood on the bluff at Omaha Street and Florida Avenue and became home to Southern College in 1902. The building burned in 1921, and the college later settled in Lakeland as Florida Southern College.

Sutherland officially became Palm Harbor on July 15, 1925. The centennial week in 2025 ended with live music and fireworks at Pop Stansell Park.
